Terangi Foundation and AKKII partnership that funded by Ford Motor Company and Indonesian Coral, Shell and Ornamental Fish Association (AKKII). It has been implemented since 2003 and will be ended at end of 2004.

 

A Terangi Foundation and AKKII partnership that funded by Ford Motor Company and Indonesian Coral, Shell and Ornamental Fish Association (AKKII). It has been implemented since 2003 and will be ended at end of 2004

Project is implementing in Jakarta and Lampung Bay, Sumatera

 

Goal:

Assisting government periodically with information on trade coral (abundance, value, and mortality level).

The objectives of this activity are:

•  Strengthening of “Pattern of Sustainable Ornamental Coral utilization” produced by ICRWG (Indonesian Coral Reef Working Group)

•  Provide a stronger basis for the establishment of Collection and Export Quotas.

•  Empowering fishermen skill for coral stock assessment and monitoring in nature.

 

The activity is including:

•  Developing an Indonsia coral collection map that shows collection areas, exporters, coral species

•  Developing a Lampung bay coral collection map that shows those information in more detail

•  Training fishermen on coral stock assessment and monitoring using simple logbook.

•  Tracing coral mortality level at every point of chain of custody (fishermen-supplier-exporter).
