TERANGI (Terumbu karang Indonesia) , The Indonesian Coral Reef Foundation , is a non profit organization. TERANGI was established in 1999 and is the first non-goverment organization in Indonesia to focus exclusively on coral reef conservation issues.
PROFILE ABOUT TERANGI The Indonesian Coral Reef Foundation (TERANGI) was established in September 1999. It is the first non profit organization Indonesia to focus exclusively on coral reef conservation issues. Terangi word stands for Terumbu Karang Indonesia (Indonesian Coral Reef). Terangi in Bahasa Indonesia also means bright, comes in line with the sun, one of our logo components. VISION A society that is able to manage the Indonesian coral reef integrated and sustainably in order to prevent lost, waste, and damage of reef resources caused by overexploitation, destructive use, and neglect. MISSION To raise awareness about the value of coral reefs and threats facing them. To empower local communities and stake holders through participatory education and training, so they can manage coral reef resources effectively and sustainably. To foster scientific studies and publication activities regarding coral reefs biodiversity and ecology. To support the collection and dissemination of data on coral reefs. To support the development and implementation of coral reef related policy. |
